ADVANCED FACIAL REJUVENATION
A Facelift Designed to Restore, Not Change
Facial aging involves more than loose skin. Over time, changes occur within the deeper tissues of the face, affecting cheek position, jawline definition, facial volume, and the relationship between the face and neck.
A deep plane facelift allows Dr. Steven Montante to address these deeper structural changes rather than simply tightening the skin. The goal is not to make you look different—it is to help you look refreshed, balanced, and more like yourself.
A DEEPER APPROACH
What Is a Deep Plane Facelift?
A deep plane facelift is an advanced facial rejuvenation technique that works beneath the skin and superficial muscular aponeurotic system, or SMAS, to reposition deeper facial tissues that have descended with age.
Rather than relying primarily on skin tension, the deep plane approach allows the underlying facial structures to be repositioned while the skin is redraped more naturally.
This can improve aging changes through the cheeks, lower face, jawline, and neck while helping avoid an overly tight or “pulled” appearance.
A facelift should restore—not change—your appearance.
Dr. Montante considers facial structure, proportion, tissue position, skin quality, and the relationship between the face and neck when developing a surgical plan.
FACIAL AGING
What Can a Deep Plane Facelift Address?
A deep plane facelift may improve several changes that occur as the deeper facial tissues descend over time.
Jowls & Jawline
Repositions descended tissue to create a smoother, more defined transition along the lower face and jawline.
Cheek Descent
Helps restore more youthful positioning of the midface and cheek tissues without relying solely on added volume.
Deep Facial Folds
May soften prominent nasolabial folds and marionette lines associated with facial tissue descent.
Face & Neck Balance
Improves the relationship between the lower face, jawline, and neck for a more harmonious overall contour.
Natural-looking facelift results should make someone look refreshed—not tight, altered, or noticeably operated.
NATURAL-LOOKING RESULTS
Dr. Montante’s Approach to Facelift Surgery
No two faces age in exactly the same way. Dr. Montante evaluates facial structure, skin quality, facial volume, cheek position, jawline definition, neck anatomy, and the degree of tissue descent before recommending a surgical plan.
For some patients, a deep plane facelift may provide the appropriate correction on its own. Others may benefit from combining facelift surgery with complementary facial rejuvenation procedures.
Each surgical plan is individualized to the patient rather than using the same facelift technique for everyone.

YOUR SURGERY
The Deep Plane Facelift Procedure
Every facelift is customized to the individual patient.
Incisions are typically positioned discreetly around the ear and within natural hairline transitions whenever possible.
Through these incisions, Dr. Montante accesses and repositions the deeper facial tissues. The skin is then redraped over the repositioned structures, and excess skin is removed without relying on excessive skin tension to create the result.
What to Expect
- Customized surgical approach
- Discreetly positioned incisions
- Repositioning of deeper facial tissues
- Careful redraping of the skin
- General anesthesia in most cases
- Additional procedures may be performed when appropriate
HEALING & RECOVERY
Recovery After Deep Plane Facelift Surgery
Recovery happens gradually. Dr. Montante and his team will provide individualized postoperative instructions and monitor your healing throughout the process.
First 1–2 Weeks
Swelling and bruising are typically most noticeable during the early stages of recovery. Activity is limited while healing begins.
Around 2 Weeks
Many patients begin feeling more comfortable returning to routine daily and social activities as swelling continues to improve.
Following Weeks
Facial contours gradually become more refined as residual swelling resolves and the tissues settle.
COMPREHENSIVE REJUVENATION
Procedures Commonly Combined With Facelift Surgery
Facial aging rarely occurs in only one area. Depending on your anatomy and goals, additional treatment may help create a more balanced result.
Neck Lift
Addresses laxity and contour changes through the neck and beneath the jawline.
Blepharoplasty
Treats aging changes around the upper or lower eyelids to complement facial rejuvenation.
Brow Lift
May improve brow descent and aging changes affecting the upper third of the face.
Fat Grafting & Skin Treatments
Volume restoration or skin resurfacing may be incorporated when appropriate to address additional aspects of facial aging.
