With over twenty years of experience, Dr. Steven J. Montante is a board-certified plastic surgeon who performs a variety of cosmetic and reconstructive procedures in Richmond, Virginia.

I started my training thinking I’d pursue a career in transplant or vascular surgery, but after assisting one of my attendings with a complex nerve reconstruction, I was hooked. When I saw his mastery of anatomy and incredible surgical finesse, I knew plastic surgery was my calling. Following that, a new world of surgery opened to me. While the technical aspects of the procedures were fascinating, the resulting improvements in a patient’s quality of life left a permanent impression. From those experiences, I recharted my career choice to plastic surgery. Plastic surgery is an amazing specialty that is endlessly fascinating and constantly improving, driving an endless yet stimulating pursuit of knowledge and skills that I try to bring to every patient. While these pursuits are important, the most important gifts I have received, after 20 plus years of practice, are the relationships that I have developed with my patients. I am grateful and humbled to have the opportunity to take care of patients from all walks of life that come for a variety of issues that have significant impact on their well-being.” – Dr. Montante
