Today, younger patients are opting for a Mid-Facelift, also called a Mini Facelift, which is a minimally invasive surgery for less significant signs of aging. FaceLift surgery is traditionally for patients over the age of 50 with significant signs of aging. Why wait for the signs of aging to become more pronounced?

This mini facelift allows for a faster recovery time, fewer risks of complications, and is exceptionally long-lasting. It is appropriate for patients in their 30s, 40s, and 50s, although it may be possible for some older patients as well.

Dr. Steve Montante has performed countless successful mid-face/mini facelifts in Richmond, Virginia using the MACS-lift technique.

Some patients opt to combine their mid-facelift with other facial rejuvenation procedures, such as a neck lift, eyelid surgery, brow lift, or rhinoplasty. Facial fillers or facial fat grafting can enhance the results of a face lift, and laser skin resurfacing can help to reduce fine lines on the skin’s surface.

What Can a Mid-Facelift / Mini Facelift Do for You?

A mid-facelift / mini facelift can improve the following:

  • Sagging jowls
  • Marionette lines from the mouth to the chin
  • Nasolabial folds from the nose to the mouth

Note that this abbreviated type of facelift will not correct all signs of aging. If you have significant wrinkles and sagging of tissue, a full face lift may be preferable for you. Dr. Montante will spend time with you during your initial consultation to hear your concerns and goals, as well as answer your questions. He will review your medical history, followed by an examination of your facial structure. This will allow him to recommend a surgical plan tailored specifically for you.

VECTRA 3D imaging technology can help you see how you will look after your surgery and will ensure that you and Dr. Montante are in agreement about your surgical plan and predicted results. Dr. Montante will advise you of all preparations to take prior to your operation. If you are a smoker, for example, you will need to stop for a period of time before surgery.

Process of a Mid-Facelift / Mini Facelift

A mid-facelift and a mini facelift is performed on an outpatient basis in our Richmond office using sedation and a local anesthetic. The surgery takes about 2 hours.

While the MACS facelift technique is similar to a conventional facelift, the incisions are hidden around the ears. Suspension sutures are then used to elevate and tighten the muscles, soft tissue, and skin for a tighter, more youthful look.

Recovering from a Mid-Facelift / Mini Facelift in Richmond

Sutures are removed in about a week. You can return to work and other normal activities within a week or less. Most patients experience little discomfort after a mini facelift, but if you do, you can relieve it with oral pain medication. You might feel some numbness of the facial muscles for a few weeks.

Minor bruising and swelling may occur, but you can reduce swelling by applying cold compresses and elevating your head during sleep for the first few nights. If you have some signs of aging that have not become too pronounced, mid-facelift/mini facelift in our Richmond office might be a great option for you to stop aging in its tracks.
